Eight Edge Drawers, Ducking Lounge Chair, Jung Myung Taek
We spotted Korean born designer Jung Myung Taek’s ‘Contemporary Art Furniture’ at Tent London last month. Working from his studio in Seoul, Korea, Myung Taek has a strong, quirky and individual style. We particularly liked the surreal, visually intriguing elements in his work.
One of our favourite pieces was the skinny shelving that leaned backwards but concealed beautiful, traditionally constructed drawers. His lounger chair ‘The Ducking Stool’ – is stretched to an elegant, exaggerated length and appears to be suspended in space. These are original, audacious, shapes that capture the imagination with their playful quality.

Happy Light, Blink London, Jung Myung Taek
We also loved the lighting created to form giant, knotted springs. Myung Taek’s strong clear forms are imbued with a sense of fun – and yet he marries this with a sophisticated elegance, precise traditional craftsmanship and a love of the beauty of wood.
