Graduate Exposure; Clutching at Straws, Eleanor Ross

London’s Exposure Gallery showcases the work of seven 2009 graduates through to January 29 2010.

With Clutching at Straws, Eleanor Ross explores the reinvention of everyday items into desirable products. Combining a wealth of fine yarns, brilliantly-coloured plastics and pipings, Eleanor has created textiles and transformed them into seriously fun party shoes.

Victoria Scott’s oil paintings are abstract, with elements of organic forms, such as flowers and trees. Victoria experiments with the physical application of paint, splashing and dripping oils onto the canvas.

Lucy Farley’s work references specific places personal to her, mainly landscapes and cityscapes and reworks them through influenced memory, nostalgia and imagined scenarios.

Rebecca Johnson’s work contrasts beauty and seduction with unease and discomfort. Enamel paint coats dried flowers and drips down onto aluminium, highlighting the juxtaposition of life and death.

Louisiana by Daniel Crews-Chubb is representative of the artist’s seductive oil paintings that evoke images of travel and far-flung destinations.
