Eat Me; Keep Me, Rebecca Wilson
HOTPOT [art, food + people] at the St Andrew’s Museum, Fife, Scotland is an exhibition that brings together a group of artists whose work is inspired by the emotional relationship between food and people.
The artists are Ruth Archibald-Swaans, Gayle Chong Kwan, Alex Frost, Alex Wilde and Rebecca Wilson and the show was been organised by Fife Contemporary Art & Craft in collaboration with SAC funded trainee curator Tonia Lu.
Ceramic designer Rebecca Wilson explores the kitsch side of confectionary, with tarts and fairy cakes in pastel colours. Rebecca’s Eat Me; Keep Me series focuses on the notion of self indulgence.

Play Please, Ruth Archibald Swaans
Fife Contemporary Art & Craft have commissioned two of the artists to produce new work for the exhibition. Ruth Archibald Swaans graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2009 with a First degree in mixed media textiles and for the exhibition has produced Play Please. Games made of food will be the centrepiece of a performance held before the exhibition and explores the interaction and handling of food. The games along with a series of photographs documenting the pre-event will be on show encouraging the audience to play the games in the gallery.
Alex Wilde’s project, A Fertile Ground (Soup and Conversation) will engage the local community in and out of the gallery with discussion events held whilst enjoying a bowl of soup.

Adult (Slimatee); Blind Drawing (Heart 4), Alex Frost
Consumption and consumerism is questioned by Glasgow-based artist Alex Frost, who here shows Adult (Slimatee), a sculpture recreating packaging in mosaic tiles, plus new drawings using enamel and paint on paper.

Green Flash; Manipulated Memory Tasting Booth, Gayle Chong Kwan
Gayle Chong Kwan’s, Manipulated Memory Tasting Booth, entices you in with nibbles and invites you to listen to memories of food left by previous visitors. The local community are invited to a tasting and memory recording session run by the artist as part of the artwork.
