Saffron Knight autumn/winter 2010/11
Saffron Knight was established in 2008 and this February’s Fashion Mavericks saw the designer made her catwalk debut. The collection named ‘Princesses of the Knight’ saw Saffron maintain her signature style of eclectic hand drawn prints, which are heavily influenced by her dual Jamaican and British heritage.
With a sensual musical backdrop playing, the models slipped on a range of chiffon dresses with a welcome appearance of a long playful maxi-dress, which floated on the ‘Princesses’ as they made their way down the runway. Additional to the range of elegant yet fun dresses was a deep navy velvet body, along with a welcome appearance of a light satin playsuit covered in Saffron’s beautifully illustrated prints.
The dresses all had a flirty edge, with tooth-style fringing adorning many of the pieces, with cut-away hems to give a more teasing feel to the collection.

The colour palette ranged from a burnt orange juxtaposed with navy velvet panelling, with light coffee tones, all alongside Saffron’s signature prints. The result gives a patchwork look, only without the raw unfinished edge. Instead, this is a collection of beautiful pieces that are set to warm and brighten up next season especially when the models all donned electric red wigs to give that extra vibrant burst of colour.
This collection is a pleasurable feast to the eyes, and one thing is sure, Saffron Knight is definitely the new princess of fashion.
