Topman Design autumn/winter 2010/11
Topman Design’s newest collection focuses on practicality and function. An army of bleach blonde models walked down the catwalk showcasing the high-end Topman collection, available later this year.
The parka is a statement piece in the collection, made out of oil waxed canvas and heavy wool felt; these jackets are going to be a necessity to staying warm next winter. The parkas themselves were styled with oversized backpacks worn low off the shoulder; all in a military green colour. Knitwear made an appearance in patterned thick wool jumpers and woollen hand-warmers that were worn underneath jackets.

Other pieces included steel grey skinny jeans, entirely patchworked and definitely a stand out piece in the collection. Other trousers included carrot skinny trousers, tight around the calf yet baggy at the crotch, with zip detailing which can easily alter the silhouette of the garment and wearer. Trousers also featured gathered waists accessorised with deep mahogany leather belts.
T-shirts and tailored shirts also made an appearance in yellows, blues and reds, all with naturalistic prints of sunset through bare trees, inspired by New York photographer David Benjamin Sherry.
The collection itself is ideal for the winter in its function and is reminiscent of camping trips to festivals from the summer. What it lacks in originality the collection gains in practicality and is certainly a fine and accessible winter collection for every top man.
