Pick Me Up: Contemporary Graphic Art Fair – opening night
Graphic Design, Illustration, Printmaking, Visual Communication

Pick Me Up; HelloVon

Pick Me Up launched last night at Somerset House, London with a strong turn out from invited studios and industry. ARTS THREAD takes a look at what’s in the show.

The exhibition design by Michael Marriott and strong graphic identity by Anthony Burrill is an important factor in the exhibition that straddles the Embankment Galleries with its three-tiered layout. There is an emphasis on that fact that this is also a selling show, with very affordable prints and books.

The display of international upcoming graphic talents runs along the main gallery with prints attached by simple bulldog clips on pegboard; midway along appears Peepshow with a wooden fold-out display of prints alongside wooden toys and Nobrow’s set display featuring co-ordinating printed wallpaper, cushions, books and toys.

The upper floor sees room sets from Concrete Hermit, Evening Tweed, Le Gun and Nous Vous, Rob Ryan has brought his whole studio over from East London and will be paper-cutting throughout the show.

Print Club London is screen-printing throughout the show too – and running a screen-printing workshop with guest designers.

Landfill/Manymono has brought its Risograph Duplicator to the show and is printing to order. A showreel of It’s Nice That’s favourite films is being shown downstairs in the mini-cinema. And finally – the shop with its selection of bags, prints and much more.
