Print Club London has set up its screen printing workshop at Pick Me Up, Contemporary Graphic Arts fair and every morning and afternoon of the fair has live screen printing with one of its team of graphic artists, from up-and-coming names to established names, such as James Jarvis, who was screen-printing Friday afternoon.
James Jarvis: Pure Evil
ARTS THREAD spoke to Print Club London director Kate Newbold who told us that current best sellers at the show are Pure Evil and James Jarvis, who is being re-discovered by a new young set of fans. Kate explained that the Dalston studio had held many events in East London, but this was the first in ‘establishment’ London. The group’s next event will be its Blisters event this September.

Saturday featured screen printing from Han Lee, Damien Frost, Chrissie Abbott and Jonathan Barnbrook. When we arrived, Han Lee was busy printing variations on his High Voltage print.

These on-the-spot prints are created in a limited edition of 50 at £50 each, available exclusively at Pick Me Up.
Print Club London was set up in 2007 by Kate Newbold, Fred Higginson and Rose Stallard to revive the art of screen printing by offering an affordable space where designers can screen print their work.

The club uses only solvent free water based inks and is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, offering six screen beds, two t-shirt carousels, T-shirt dryer, apple macs, storage facilities, washout room and exposure units. £90 a month gives members unlimited access to the studio and 9 hours pre-booking time per week, with members suppling their own ink, paper, emulsion and screens.

The club also offer beginners’ workshops and as they say, are willing to take on ‘anything that can be screen printed onto paper, card or fabric.’
