Exquisite Clock, Fabrica

Exquisite Clock is an an interactive art installation by Fabrica, designed by Joao Wilbert with the creative direction of Andy Cameron. It will be on show at this month’s Graphic Design Festival Breda (GDFB), taking place in the Netherlands from May 08-30 2010. ARTS THREAD has been to the festival – look out for our blog posts coming up this week on the event.

Exquisite Clock was recently shown at the V&A as part of Decode: Digital Design Sensations. It is described as ‘a clock made of numbers taken from everyday life – seen, captured and uploaded by people from all over the world on an ever-growing platform. Built around an online database, the clock is available as a web 2.0 site, an iPhone application and a series of site-specific installations.’

‘Users are invited to collect pictures of numbers that can be found in different contexts around them (objects, vegetables, surfaces, landscapes, cables, etc.) and participate in the creation of the artwork: photos taken with the iPhone application or uploaded onto the Exquisite Clock website will be instantly displayed at GDFB and around the globe.’

The Exquisite Clock featured in Breda will be projected onto a huge screen, which visitors can contribute to and interact with.
