Bath Spa University made its catwalk debut at GFW and showcased eleven collections with inspiring detailing and ideas.
Ruth Strugnell’s collection is entitled ‘Comfortably Seated and Wearing Curtains’ and has its focus on sustainable fashion. Ruth explored the use of recycled upholstery fabrics, experimenting with over-dying and patchwork. The shape of the original upholstered furniture pieces inspired ideas for proportion and shape.
Emma Pryke took inspiration from the Joanne Harris book Chocolat for a collection with a strong colour palette including navy and black against cream and gold. Pleated panels feature Baroque-style printing in golds.
Carly Westcott’s menswear collection Come in from the Cold takes its reference from alpine first layer warmwear as protection against the elements, with influences from sleeping bags, camping and hiking.
Tattoo is Taboo by Louise Tredwin is a pure black collection, where cut, silhouette and form combine with a mix of textures that reference the placement of tattoos, with grown-on collars and sleeves echoing the grafting on of a tattoo as part of the body.
