Hachette Filipacchi Media Design Award winner Alice Barnes, Northumbria University

The winner of the Hachette Filipacchi Media Design Award is Alice Barnes of Northumbria University’s Fashion Communication course. Alice’s work is based on backstage photographs of fashion shows such as Christopher Kane, Jaeger and Richard Nicoll. Alice worked with the Casting Director Russell Marsh who works with design labels such as Prada and Dries Van Noten, which helped her get to see behind the scenes at shows.

Hachette Filipacchi Media Design Award finalist Samuel Joseph Smith, UCA Epsom

The two finalists shortlisted for the award included Samuel Joseph Smith from UCA Epsom. Samuel’s project is a menswear print publication, focusing on different cultural themes for each different issue. Samuel wants the magazine to portray the theme through fashion images, to allow people to interpret it in their own way. The second finalist, Kate Swingler from Ravensbourne, based her work on exploring beyond the boundaries. Kate likes to include photography in her work and has good knowledge of graphics.
