Salisbury staged a show of interesting contrasts, with this years graduates choosing to champion both hand-craft and commerciality.
We loved Sophie Lowe’s individual collection, which used knitted raffia and ragged, eroded textures in shades of pale straw, grey and silvery-blue.
Hailey-Louise Budding’s prints on satin had a hand-drawn feel and featured lions and tigers, fish and lizards. Pretty dresses were paraded with coloured shrugs of rhinestone-studded fur.
Jenna Mae Squires showed simple but striking menswear with an industrial feel. Good contrasts of texture came from smooth, moulded cropped jackets and rugged, chunky knitwear. Key pieces were a short trench-coat featuring oversized metal studs, and ‘ring-pull’ embellished trousers.
Kat Mills sexy womenswear was a mix of manipulated textures, print and chain mail. Short, tight dresses featured ruching and scooped back details.
Finally, Ruan Kitchener’s rounded off the showcase with some memorable pieces in a soft, natural colour palette ranging from nude to bronze. We particularly liked the ‘bow’ dress, a soft-sheen lurex mac, and a long-haired fur skirt.
