New Designers 2011: New Designer and Runner up of the Year Award Part 1

Louise Tiler, Leeds School of Art and Design

New Designer of the Year Award Winner Louise Tiler, Leeds College of Art and Design

The New Designer of the Year Award 2011 has gone to… Louise Tiler from Leeds College of Art & Design who has won amongst other things a cash prize of £1500. Inspired by 16th century Japanese and Georgian wallpapers and vintage wall panels, Louise has created layered and in depth illustrative designs in watercolour florals with hand drawn details.

Specifically chosen for the attention to detail, Louise wants to create work that makes the viewer stop and take a closer look. With fluid movement and confident drawings, each is scaled to juxtapose against the natural foliage. With animal-style trends coming through, the overall feel for Louise’s work makes for a very forward thinking collection of prints.
