This year, the 27th Hyéres International Festival of Fashion and Photography is scheduled to take place from 27 – 30 April. Held at the villa Noailles, the exhibition gives young artists in the fields of fashion and photography the chance to get their work seen by the masses.
Ten young fashion designers of nine different nationalities were chosen by a highly influential jury lead by legendary designer Yohji Yamamoto. Yamamoto and company managed to select the final ten candidates from a whopping 290 entrants.
The ten chosen designers are: Jasmina Barshovi (University of Art and Design (HEAD), Geneva), Narelle Dore (Royal Academy of Arts, Antwerp), Daniel Hurlin (IFM, Paris), Ragne Kikas (University of Applied Sciences Hamburg HAW), the collaborative team Elina Laitinen, Siiri Raasakka & Tiia Siren (School of Arts and Design, Aalto University, Helsinki), Maxime Rappaz (University of Art and Design (HEAD), Geneva), Paula Selby Avallaneda (IFM, Paris, Royal Academy School, London, Cecoli Institute, Milan), Lucas Sponchiado (La Cambre, Brussels), Steven Tai (Central Saint Martins College, London) and Kim Wilkins (Royal College of Art, London).
A shortlist of 60 photographers (from a total of 700 entrants) were presented to a panel of judges including Carla Sozzani and Hans Gremmen. The chosen photographers will be revealed soon – so watch this space!
