ARTS THREAD selects some of the best work on show at Pick Me Up Selects:
France based creative duo Zim and Zou (also known as Lucie Thomas and Thibault Zimmermann) showed various objects such as paper cameras and Gameboys from their Back to Basics and wonderfully intricate paper creatures created for the Cabinet des Curiosités project.
ARTS THREAD have loved Kristjana S Williams‘ work ever since we spotted her work with Beyond the Valley at LDF 2011. For Pick Me Up Selects she showed some beautiful prints and collages which combine contemporary illustration with Victorian aesthetics.
Paul X Johnson‘s figurative illustrations are immediately eye-catching. The Northumbria University Graphic Design student and D&AD Yellow Pencil winner creates glamorous yet melancholy images which have a cinematic quality to them.
There is a real sense of fun in Paul Wrigglesworth’s colourful prints. The London based illustrator displayed a selection of commissioned pieces created for clients such as The Guardian and Computer Arts magazine.
Royal College of Art, London graduate Mimi Leung‘s drawings are as grotesque as they are playful. We loved the sense of movement conveyed in the images as well as the cartoon-like expressions on the figures’ faces.
Pick Me Up runs from March 22nd to April 1st at Somerset House, London. For more information on the fair and to book tickets please visit Pick Me Up
