They have only been going since 2011 but already Puck Studio are showing great promise as they exhibit their collection at this year’s Pick Me Up, showing a variety of work that celebrates talents from the South West of England.
The title for their exhibition is called ‘Scrumping with Puck Studio’ and is showing what the illustration scene of the South West has to offer, from people that are already established in the trade as well as new talents – displaying a variety of illustration, print making, vinyl displays and installation work.
Puck Studio are based in East London and was founded by illustrators David Gibbons and Robbie Wilkinson and for Pick Me Up they have created an exhibit around the idea of a tree. Not only does the centre of the exhibition have a tree made out of wood and balloons, this tree is going to be used to exhibit work that you can pick off the ‘branches’ and purchase, as well as live printing going on around the tables/base of the tree. The work is a combination of silkscreen and gocco printing and displays a variety of colour and sophistication
“Puck Studio is in a prime position to deliver contemporary services from the heart of the creative industry” and these services include illustration for a variety of projects such as editorial and promotional art; they also create bespoke vinyl pieces.
The other work that has been produced for Pick Me Up is displayed on the wall space, with leaf-shaped stickers dotted on the walls to link the theme together; it is a stand that catches your eye as soon as you walk into the exhibition space, even though it is at the other end of the room!
Pick Me Up runs from March 22nd to April 1st at Somerset House, London. For more information on the fair and to book tickets please visit Pick Me Up
