We are long-standing fans of multi-award winning Ikuko Iwamoto’s beautiful work. She creates ceramics with soul. Something of an obsessive perfectionist, Japanese born Ikuko personally hand crafts everything herself in her tiny studio in Clerkenwell, London.

Vases and other vessels, cups, plates and bowls are often asymmetric and unusual. Her work is delicate, yet surprisingly often functional – and has a surreal quality – reminiscent of spiky anemones and coral structures. Having invested in a new kiln, Ikuko has developed some larger pieces – but also some small and very covetable ‘beetle brooches’.

At Tent London, she revealed a new range called IKIK with a more light-hearted feel, featuring printed surfaces. She developed this with her partner Kaz Kondor, where elegant drawings of bugs abound on plates and cups – great fun!
