La Publicité au secours des grandes causes – Advertising coming to the help of worthy causes – at Paris’s Les Arts Décoratifs shows a major collection of posters and films made for French NGOs and institutions to get across their messages.

The 300 posters and films in this exhibition show how how advertising has helped raise and shape public awareness, from the late 60s through to today. The exhibition covers six major themes: human rights, humanitarian aid, ecology, health, social exclusion and social aid, education and civic awareness.

AIKON project showcased at Kinetica Art Fair, London


The Aikon Project uses computational techniques to examine the activity of drawing – in particular sketching the human face – and is co-ordinated by Professor of Computing at Goldsmiths, Frederic Fol Leymarie and researcher and artist Patrick Tresset. The Skediomata robotic system was shown in action at the recent Kinetica Art Fair, London held February 4-7 2010.

On Growth and Form, Daniel Brown, Decode: Digital Design Sensations

The latest developments in digital and interactive design are currently on show at Decode: Digital Design Sensations at the V&A London. Pieces have been commissioned especially for the exhibition by the V&A in partnership with software specialists SAP, and sit alongside work by established designers, such as Daniel Rozin and Karsten Schmidt, as well as groups such as Troika and Fabrica.

Co-curated by Louise Shannon of the V&A and Shane Walter, director of contemporary arts organisation onedotzero, the V&A’s collaborative partner on Decode, the exhibition brings together many exciting new and recent pieces of work. A busy programme of hands-on tutorials and workshops is scheduled for the next three months – check the V&A microsite for details.

FrameByFrame: Swinburne Multimedia Design graduate show


VIP night for the Swinburne FrameByFrame Multimedia Design graduate show on Tuesday December 8 was vibrant and buzzing with students, friends, parents and industry professionals.

The projects featured at the exhibition were a culmination of Undergraduate, Honours and Masters students’ work, primarily designed for children with autism. Trained teachers of children with autism from *Bulleen Heights School assisted student groups with eight different projects that focused on assisting autistic children with areas in which they need help.
