As part of Ventura Lambrate, the postgraduate Scuola Politecnica di Design SPD presented Call to Action! – great projects and an excellent example of exhibition display.

Designersblock & ARTS THREAD are currently at the The Magazzini in Milan’s trendy Tortona district. Walk through a forest of stylised trees created by Lost Heritage festooned with work from new talents plucked from ARTS THREAD’s creative portfolios.

It’s the fourth year that Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design (AAAD), Prague comes to Milan. This time the students and graduates were chosen by the art and design curator Tereza Bruthansová and AAAD’s Porcelain and Ceramics Studio head, Maxim Velčovský.

HKU, Utrecht School of the Arts comes to Milan with work from its multi-disciplinary HKU Design course for established designers who are forging new connections and exploring new applications. We can’t wait to see the works in person!

Cape Town – ARTS THREAD interviews John Maeda, artist, graphic designer, computer scientist and president of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). A speaker on Day 1 of the Design Indaba Conference, John’s key project at RISD, is to add art and design into the tight coterie of STEM education in the US (to create STEAM). STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

London – The Kinetica Art Fair returned to Ambika P3 for another exhibition full of robotics, electronics, lights, sounds and time-based art.

At last week’s Interior Design Week Cologne, as part of Design Parcours Ehrenfeld University Forum, students on the BA Interior Architecture course at University of Applied Sciences Mainz, coordinated by Prof. Bernd Benninghoff, showed off the results of their course’s annual project entitled Material as Design Inspiration.
