Mark Gower, Programme Chair in Interior Design showed ARTS THREAD around his graduates’ work on show at the American Intercontinental University.

At this month’s ICFF, held May 18-21 2013, PALS presented HOME_LESS_HOME, an exhibition of student designs that are inspired by ‘the changing nature of the urban society and the impact of climate change. Historically, social forces have contributed to homelessness on the streets of our most affluent cities. Yet, in an era of Katrina and Sandy and of rapid socio-environmental change, more Americans are redefining ‘home’.’

Over at Ventura Lambrate, Aarhus School of Architecture from Denmark presents the work of 17 students as part of its Studio MAD – Making Architectural Design.

Laura-Jane Aktinson, 2012 graduate from the Embroidery BA (Hons) course at Manchester School of Art will be joining us at the Magazzini in Milan. A creative hub in Tortona, running April 09-13, the Designersblock & Arts Thread section will feature work from new talents curated from Arts Thread’s creative portfolios.

At last weekend’s Maison&Objet ARTS THREAD took a look at some exciting new prototype designs financed by VIA Creation.

During the recent Design Miami/ held in December, Fabrica designers Charlotte Juillard and David Raffoul created furniture system Table in Wonderland for the revamped United Colors of Benetton Miami flagship store.

For this January’s Interiors 2013 at Birmingham’s NEC, Designersblock is creating its own department store, Designersblock & Co, complete with window displays and the whole range of departments that befits a store celebrating the work of over 40 UK and international designers. At Dutch Design Week Willem de Kooning Academy Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and the Piet Zwart Institute presented graduation work by Spatial Design BA students and Interior Architecture & Retail Design Masters.
