ARTS THREAD looks at the exciting installations that took place at this year’s Tent London and Super Brands London, housed across two floors of the Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane.

Room 39 is an exciting young brand, focusing on interior products for the bedroom, with a clear vision for “combining contemporary design with artisan skills to create heirlooms for the future.” We were drawn to their fresh, modern pieces and loved the ‘anti-cute’ approach to items for children.

Lab Craft, subtitled Digital Adventures in Contemporary Craft, was an exciting new touring exhibition by the Crafts Council that saw its debut at Tent London this September.

Once again, Tent London has proved to be a truly exciting mix of up-and-coming and established talent. With its professional yet relaxed atmosphere, it’s also one of the most enjoyable to visit. ARTS THREAD chooses some favourite exhibitors.

Tent London played host to a number of weird and wonderful, as well as ingenious and indescribable innovations. Whilst function and beauty have long been the keystones of great design; sustainability has become a new prerequisite for anything we bring into our homes, and this is a new challenge that many of the designers exhibiting at the Truman Brewery overcome admirably.

During this years Tent London there was a curated area dedicated to the next generation of designers, Tent Selects. This showcased new talents – 8 UK and international design graduates, handpicked by Tent London, to represents the best of 2010.

Alongside all the exciting stands, Tent London showcased a selection of different installations and events dotted around the Old Truman Brewery.
