The International Animation Film Festival at Annecy takes place June 04 to 09 2012. Located in the Rhône-Alpes, the town has been running the festival since 1960. The opening ceremony includes a sneak preview of the The Suicide Shop, the latest film by Patrice Leconte and Paperman, the world premiere of Disney’s latest short and the first directing role for John Kahrs (Toy Story 2, Tangled, The Incredibles).

The winners of the ninth British Animation Awards were announced last week during the award ceremony at the BFI, Southbank. Hosted by comedian Thom Tuck, the biennial awards honour the best achievements in the field of animation.

ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) is a special place for anyone into film. Located in the heart of Melbourne, the centre aims to celebrate and showcase the moving image with an endless program of film screenings, exhibitions, festivals, workshops and many other special events. Wow+Flutter is onedotzero’s signature programme at the Adventures in Motion festival, and this year’s showcase included 34 films that challenge the idea of what ‘moving image’ means. ARTS THREAD popped along on Thursday to discover some innovative explorations in motion graphics, characterisation, narrative and typography by established and emerging talent from all corners of the globe.
