On the last day of Paris Design Week, ARTS THREAD brings you a photo report from the Design Schools 2012 exhibition organised by VIA (Valorization of Innovation in Furnishing), with 65 projects of graduates from 24 French art & design schools.

Graduates of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie wowed visitors during a five day long exhibition earlier this month. ARTS THREAD selects a few of the strongest projects from across the school’s many disciplines.

Emma Hollins is a graduate from the University of Sunderland. By chance, Sunderland’s football stadium is called the Stadium of light and Emma’s works more than anything else embody that all too elusive quality. Light is something handles with consummate ease, providing the viewer with an endless range of subtle shifting perspectives.

At this May’s International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York the University of Lapland was selected as one of six schools to show at the event with an exhibition entitled Runko.

Taken over for the first time last May by the festival, the House of Detention, the converted vaults of a Victorian prison, is once again home to upcoming design talent from the UK and around the world.

During Milan Design Week, ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne presented Hot Tools at Spazio Orso 16 – showing the results of a new approach to glass blowing.

Last month ECAL/University of Art & Design Lausanne presented at Design Days Dubai a series of projects created by students on the Master of Advanced Studies in Luxury Industry & Design (MAS-Luxury).

Monde Commun is a collective show of eight design schools from all over France and the 42 projects will be shown as part of France Design, curated by VIA and held in the Tortona design district during Milan Design Week.

Following on from last year’s successful visit to Milan, the Industrial Design Department of Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem returns to Ventura Lambrate with an exhibition entitled Design Bonanza.
