Netherlands-based designer Meta Menkveld graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague last summer. Her graduate project, Everything is Corn, raised awareness of the hidden amount of corn people consume and was made entirely from corn-based materials including cornflour, corn kernels. The 2012 Graphic Design Festival Breda has drawn to a close. The five day long event of workshops, lectures, performances, exhibitions and master classes attracted over 150 international creatives and scores of visitors, all of whom had an appetite for the very best in graphic design.

The Graphic Design Festival returns to Breda this September for five days of exciting and engaging workshops, lectures, performances and master classes.

In the run-up to the autumn event, the organisers commissioned 45 designers to interpret the statement ‘Greed is out, Empathy is in’ into a compelling visual image. In addition, Graphic Design Festival Breda held an open call for fans of the event and budding graphic artists to submit their own creations.

Spanning across several floors of the Stevens Building, the Royal College of Art’s 2012 Visual Communication graduates showcased the fruits of their labour. From web-based GIFs to unconventional storytelling, ARTS THREAD chooses a few of the best projects on show.
