Paris - ARTS THREAD was in Paris last week for Indigo Paris, part of Première Vision. Held at Parc d’Expositions, Indigo featured 179 exhibitors showing a wide range of textile surfaces, from prints and jacquard weaves, to knits, embroideries and all manner of variations. There were 18 new exhibitors to the show, as well as 14 design schools and universities. In addition, the spring/summer 2014 trend influences proved popular, with visitors viewing the details around the display of a giant flying fish.

At last weekend’s Maison&Objet ARTS THREAD took a look at some exciting new prototype designs financed by VIA Creation.

For this January’s Interiors 2013 at Birmingham’s NEC, Designersblock is creating its own department store, Designersblock & Co, complete with window displays and the whole range of departments that befits a store celebrating the work of over 40 UK and international designers. For anyone with a love of denim, this new exhibition Blue Jean at the Centraal Museum in Utrecht is a must. According to the organisers, the Dutch own more denim jeans per person than any other nation in the world and it is therefore appropriate that the exhibition is held in the Netherlands.

Under the theme of Vivant, trend-setters Elizabeth Leriche, François Bernard and Vincent Grégoire/NellyRodi will create 2013 inspiration displays for January’s Maison&Objet under the sub-titles of Nourritures Premières, Pioneer and Renaiscience.

Subtitled The 10 Step Guide to Developing and Producing a Fashion Collection, Blue is the new Black, written by by Susie Breuer and published by BIS Publishers, is a must for anyone wanting a career in fashion, as it explains the whole process – from concept through to selling and explains all the roles necessary for the successful conclusion of any collection.

With a theme of The Friendly World, over 90 young designers from 22 countries took part in the Jeansation competition that culminated in the choosing of the winners last Saturday at Monte Carlo’s Grimaldi Forum. ARTS THREAD was one of the judges and we bring you the results of this highly imaginative competition.

The final creative to join the winners of the competition ARTS THREAD held with Equip’Hotel Competition is Design Academy Eindhoven graduate Lenneke Langenhuijsen.
